Everyday Questions:

1. Do you cover the Riverhead / South Hampton / Mineola?

No, these towns that are Private. You must call the town itself for an inspection.

2. I'm a homeowner in Nassau County, Can I do my own work?

No, Nassau County all recent work must be completed by a licensed electrician, approved in the the town itself. There are NO exceptions to this law unless the town itself emails or mails our company with approval.

3. I'm a homeowner in Suffolk County, Can I do my own work?

Yes, Suffolk County allows homeowners to complete their own work. However, we always recommend using a licensed electrician.

4. Can I file work done by my electrician?

No. Work done by an electrician must be filed for by the electrician. We can not accept electrician's information by anyone but them. (This includes homeowners, realtors and expeditors)

5. I have old work done by an electrician, I can't get in touch with them. Can I file?

Depending on how old the job is. You must first have their name taken off the permit at the town and updated. You also will be taking liability for their work. We highly recommend doing everything you can to first contact this person and if you still are unable, hire an electrician to review and then file themselves.

6. I am purchasing a home and would like to have an inspection before purchasing. Can I do this?

No. When it comes to homes being purchased, the EXISTING owner must be the one to call for inspection. Perspective buyers can not request an inspection. We need to speak with the existing homeowner for permission to come on their property.

7. I won't be home is it okay if (my son/daughter, cousin, friend, etc.) lets the inspector in?

Yes. But they must be someone 18 or older.

8. If the inspection doesn't pass, can you do the repairs?

No. Inspectors can not do any electrical work. Inspectors need to give up their licenses to become inspectors. It is a conflict of interest. If you reside in Suffolk you are allowed to make repairs yourself. But, we always recommend hiring a licensed electrician to do any repairs, regardless of County.

Once you have received your permit number.

We do not charge to reinspect!
